Of course the last post on this wasn't true... I sat and thought I would rewrite it again one more time. I'm very glad I did, it's brought a heap of new touches I was thinking the last few version were missing and is now a 5500 word story all typed up and backup-able on my computer:-)
Next stage is storyboarding, where no doubt it will get a bit of a rewrite on the way.
I'm still uncertain on the title and so I'm gonna leave it for a while but might go for "Reprise". Mr Parson is a good title I think but the relevance to the Orwell character isn't there anymore as I've made the lead character a more likable protagonist, that hopeful will get youthinking that could be me... well kinda:-)
So, the story? Well I'll try and summarise it here in the style of a back of DVD synopses. Put on your best Don LaFontaine voice in your head:
Mr Parson is a man who has lost his family and looks patiently to uncover the identity and whereabouts of there killer. Extremely close, he finds himself in a chance encounter that quickly becomes a dark path into redemption he was not ready for.
Set in an inner city distopia, where the political and social past has lead to a swift and extreme form of punishment called Reprise. Mr Parson defiantly tracks the killer only to end up a victim of his own actions.
Hope that gets ya excited:-)
Here's a little extract from the 5500 word story I wrote that the film will be based on. Here Mr Parson looks thru a key hole into a suspect unit:
Within seconds of Mr Parson looking thru the gap, making fuzzy mental notes of all the details, a figure of a man walks into eye shot form behind a wall in the same room as the table and tray. He places something on the tray, it makes a sharp clank sound. He appears to pause for a moment as if listening to something faint in another room. He cocks his head to one side as if to get a better handle on a sound, the side of his face is clearly visible by Mr Parson – its the man form the photo he smuggled out of the office. The figure then walks of to one side of the table out of view behind a wall.
Mr Parson's eye darks around thru the gap in the door trying to take in in more information feeling like he should pull away immediately but just wants to get in a few more seconds.
The figure re-appears without warning, but much closer form a side room, he is side on to Mr Parson and masks out the bright light falling on his face, he turns his head quickly towards the door just as Mr Parson pulls his face away form view. The figure walks towards the door.
